Here's may latest project a 1977 GMC Panel van, Wagon Or delivery truck. I don't rember ever seeing one from this body style so I get to have fun and make one I will also be putting in a power sun roof out of a 89 ford SHO, auto lights trying to decide fuel injection system from a 94 caprice or supercharger 350 4speed auto front and rear disc breaks. nice SHO seats my change to high back love the lumbar support and the rib squeezers I will Keep the rear seats for the Kids Maybe remove the luggage rack. First lay out to find size of opening First cut width looks good 2ed cut length looks good this picture shows the hat rail I took of a motorcycle shipping create Should do well to help keep the contour. This one is showing the frame rack, to help keep the body straight while building the body. prefab home trailer tongues can come in handy. This also shows the finale cut to template to make a real insert panel Yes the bluff in the back ground is from a John Wayne movie

Here's a couple of shoots of the panel welded in with a couple of bonus shoots of my shopping cart wheel dollies Just a little friendly, minor waves at corners. The white paint is for protection and finding contours Yes it needs grinding my big grinder broke. Car dollies are made from discarded shopping cart wheels 2" galvanized pipe and mobile home frames The Camaro's not mine, customers, it moves fairly easy. not finished just had to see how well they would work.

Thanks! I was working part time at one of our grocery store's and a gentleman was there, when I went on break, servicing the shopping carts. He had a pile of old casters next to the curb, so I asked what he did with the old ones. He said They were to expensive to rebuild time wise and he was going to chuck them. so I asked if I could have them and he said get me a box I'll be here for two more hours to make along story short I got three apple boxes+ full of them. about50% were still use able and with a little TLC and time 50 to 60% of whats left over can be reused to. You never know what you may find. As soon as I can get that POS camaro out of my shop I can get back to my projects. Oh I do like camaros but this one is good shredder fodder! 95 to 100 degrees is no fun to spreed bondo in.

I like the wheels. They look like they can hold the weight of a car.

What, I don't understand A Panel Camaro, Ive seen A Pickup Camaro I've seen A 4dr Camaro. I even had a friend who 4X4 a 67 Camaro. but this body would not complement the creative curves or the finely engineered headlamp design, say nothing about the suspension. no I don't think I could do that. It's just not in me To kill My design by degrading a GMC pick up with a Camaro front end Thanks anyway.
By the way It's been done But not with a Suburban body.

Ok, The long awaited update Lately I've been working on the mechanical end of this thing. Work has been slow and school has gotten Political. so between trying not to play ma bell, you know reach out and touch someone, and repairing my wife's car not much has gotten done on the body. but here's a couple of pic's of the screwed in place parts. These were just basically screwed in to see where the next step would be. I decided to mount the body on the frame and then fill in the rear doors. I can use the cab corners roof to runner boards to help keep the body lines straight remove the rear door skins then weld them in to the holes and ad bracing. http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss215/reinovator/HPIM1140.jpghttp://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss215/reinovator/HPIM1141.jpgThis is just mock up for now I need my one ton for work so I pulled the 350 out of my 77 and installed a 305 with a 700R4. this helps in to ways. 1 I wanted Headers, so this helps me route the exhaust 2 I wanted the 4 speed. the 700r4 was hooked up to the 305 so it helped me with the drive train lay out. I was Happily surprised when I went to measure the drive line to see what mods I needed, shorten or lengthen neither I just had to move the carrier bearing For ward 1 inch. I'm still going to have it checked out be for getting into it to hard. every thing looks good though. I'm not sure how much of the rear slip joint behind the carrier bearing is necessary. I can't see splines, and the travel looks good. nice surprise though I can at least drive it to the car wash and pressure wash all the wonderful gunk that accumulate over the years One other nice thing, it's going to be a lot easier to install the rear disc brakes with out the bed on too. and decide weather or not to use the 40 gallon tank or the two saddle tanks or a combo of the three or two, oh no help I can't decide. ah I'll figure it out. Thanks for all the feed back. Reinovator
